Situated in the utmost south end of Kamala Beach in Phuket lies an isolated and rustic home away from home, the aptly named Kamala Beach Estate. This mostly privately owned hotel offers a limited number of villas, but its best asset is actually its privacy as the hotel is built on its own promontory, a raised land mass surrounded by the Andaman Sea, essentially forming a private beach.
When entering the hotel, you are faced with a quaint and a rustic exterior. The hotel was built in 1994 and has the mood of an old-school villa, furnished with intricate carvings and awnings in deep wooden tones. The hotel has basic amenities such as a swimming pool and a restaurant. What they have plenty of are lush gardens, which is perfect for walks about and has enough space for a garden wedding.
Kamala Beach Estate is run by General Manager Richard Jones, who has been in the hospitality industry business for a long time. When asked what the philosophy of the hotel is, he stated: –
“Our philosophy is to provide you with a home away from home, in a small tropical oasis. We have various owners from all around the globe, we have seven 3 bedroom sea view villas, but only 2 available for rent and 21 one and two bedroom apartments, both sea view and garden. Kamala Beach is one of the finest beaches in Phuket, with facilities for all tastes and wage brackets, plus easy access to the Airport, Patong Beach, Phuket Town and all major attractions. Although quite a lot of development has happened in Phuket, Kamala Beach remains relatively unspoilt and quiet.” — Richard Jones, General Manager of Kamala Beach Estate

Review: 1 Bedroom Suite
The 1 bedroom Andaman Suite was furnished with traditional Thai decorations, with wooden carvings and statues all over the place. the bedroom was equipped with a king-sized bedroom, and floor to ceiling wardrobes.
The living room comes with a kitchenette, dining table and a large living space with couches and a daybed. The spacious living room is perfect for daytime lounging, with one side of the room facing the garden, and the other facing the Andaman Sea.
Probably the most stunning of this suite is that it faces the beautiful Andaman Sea, with the natural breeze of the sea air in the midst of this tropical paradise facing the hills of Phuket.
Swimming Pool and Children’s Pool
The hotel is catered to family friendly holidays, and this is seen by them having 2 swimming pools, a large spacious one and a smaller one for the kids. The pool is also the perfect place to lounge and relax and read a book as you’re surrounded by the lush greenery.
Spa Treatments
The hotel offers a variety of personalised spa treatments, massages, and manicures, which are offered in house at the privacy of your own villa. However, these have to be done with a day’s notice, so do take note.
The Deck Restaurant
At first glance, The Deck seems to be a simple hotel restaurant, but this amazing restaurant with a stunning view has actually worn awards before. The Deck serves a combination of Thai favourites as well as European dishes. This restaurant overlooks Kamala Bay, with boats perched on the side while you dine facing the sunset. The Red Duck Curry is highly recommend, served with a serving of Thai jasmine rice, and is probably one of the best you will come across at a hotel.
