Whiskeys is one of the most well-known distilled grains, and some of the most famous come from the Scottish countryside. Glen Grant has one of the more interesting origins which was initiated by two brothers who were whiskey smugglers built a brand with the invention of the tall slender stills creating some of the crispest whiskey you will find.
What is Whisky?
Whisky comes from the Gaelic word meaning “water”, which is “uisce” in Irish Gaelic and “uisge” in Scottish Gaelic. Whisky is a type of distilled alcohol made form fermented grain, and can be made from barley, rye or wheat. Traditionally, whiskey was made from barley, but has changed as time went by. Whisky is traditionally aged in wooden oak casks. The term whisky and whiskey has also been generally debated on, with whiskey used generally in Ireland and America, while most other countries prefer the spelling whisky.

Smugglers turned visionary leaders, they introduced the railway and electric light to Speyside. And, most famously, they were pioneers of a most singular approach to distillation. James ‘The Major’ Grant was the inventor of the tall, slender stills and revolutionary purifiers that captured only the finest vapours. Together, they give Glen Grant its distinctive, elegant, fruity and nutty flavour.
