“The perfumes are amazing, and the challenge I set for myself was to create cocktails that not only enhances the feelings and images the perfumes evoke but would bring a whole new dimension of taste and smell that is rarely experienced. You literally smell the perfumes and sip your cocktail, and marry scent and flavour when you drink.” — Danny Winter, Head Mixologist of Concubine KL.

Matahari

Matahari, a radiant perfume of fruits and florals inspired by the memories of walks among fruit trees under the tropical sun was paired with a wonderful cocktail of Porter’s Tropical Old Tom gin, peach, pear, a hint of spice, and watermelon foam.
This perfume cocktail pairing was presented with a spritz of the Matahari onto a sunflower, along with a perfumed stone. The cocktail leaned towards the sweeter side, with fruity notes from the peach and pair, with a slight bitter tinge from the watermelon foam balancing it out.

Midori

Midori, the fresh green and aromatic perfume channelling the serenity and beauty of a Japanese bamboo forest was paired with a fresh, delightful cocktail of Porter’s Orchard gin, green tea and unripen papaya cordial, Riesling, and elderflower.
The clean and refreshing scent of the Midori was paired with a green tea Riesling cocktail, with flavours of elderflower running through. The greenness of the scent invoked a sense of being in a bamboo forest, but with usual Concubine touch, a certain playfulness.

Bois De L'Est Perfume and Cocktail | Concubine X OLFAC3 | Food For Thought

Bois De L’Est

and Bois De L’Est (Eastern Wood), an enticing chypre composition of wood, black pepper and leather inspired by the exotic mysteries of the Orient was paired with the sensual cocktail of Earl Grey-infused Porter’s Dry Gin, sweet vermouth, hinoki bitters, cedar-aged sake and grapefruit bitters.
For those who prefer something a little spirit forward, the concoction made to pair with the Bois De L’Est leans on the stronger side to match the woodiness of the perfume, making this one of our favourites of the night.
