The Michelin Guide Singapore has revealed its 2024 lineup with one restaurant promoted to Two Stars and four restaurants newly awarded One Star. This year sees 3 Three Stars, 6 Two Stars, 42 One Stars, 151 Michelin Selected, 81 Bib Gourmands, and 2 Green Stars, totalling 283 establishments. Here’s the breakdown and some food for thought.
Promotion and New Michelin Stars
Meta has been promoted to Two Michelin Stars. Chef Sun Kim’s modern Korean cooking combines traditional flavours with contemporary aesthetics. Four new restaurants awarded One Michelin Star are Araya, Chaleur, Matera, and Pangium. Araya, led by Chilean chefs, showcases an eclectic mix of Chilean and Japanese produce. Chaleur by Chef Masahiko Kawano presents a fusion of French and Japanese ingredients. Matera, by German chef Bjoern Alexander, offers Italian cooking with Asian influences. Pangium, by Singaporean chef Malcolm Lee, explores Straits cuisine.
Three Michelin Star
This year, the guide recognises three restaurants: Les Amis, Odette, and Zén. Les Amis, offering refined French cuisine, maintains its reputation under the leadership of Chef Sebastien Lepinoy. Odette, led by Chef Julien Royer, excels in French contemporary cuisine, while Zén, helmed by Chef Tristin Farmer, provides an exceptional European contemporary dining experience. These establishments are celebrated for their culinary innovation, outstanding service, and consistent excellence.
Two Michelin Star
In the Two Michelin Star category, six restaurants have retained their esteemed status, with one new promotion. Cloudstreet, Jaan by Kirk Westaway, Saint Pierre, Shoukouwa, and Thevar continue to impress with their innovative and contemporary offerings. Meta, under the guidance of Chef Sun Kim, has been promoted, showcasing modern Korean cuisine with a minimalist aesthetic. These restaurants are distinguished by their ability to push culinary boundaries and deliver memorable dining experiences.
One Michelin Star
The One Michelin Star category in 2024 sees a total of 42 restaurants, with four new entries. Notable mentions include Alma, Art di Daniele Sperindio, Born, and Buona Terra, which continue to set high standards in European and Italian contemporary cuisine. New entrants such as Araya, Chaleur, Matera, and Pangium bring fresh perspectives with their innovative dishes and unique flavour combinations. This category highlights a diverse range of culinary styles, from barbecue to Peranakan, showcasing Singapore’s rich and dynamic food scene.
Michelin Green Star
The Michelin Green Star recognises restaurants at the forefront of sustainability in the culinary world. This year, Fiz joins Seroja in receiving this prestigious accolade. Fiz, led by Chef Hafizzul Hashim, is celebrated for its commitment to sustainable practices, incorporating local Malaysian spices and ingredients into its menu. Seroja, the first recipient of the Green Star in Singapore, continues to impress with its innovative use of regional ingredients and dedication to sustainability through preservation and education. These restaurants are honoured for their exceptional eco-friendly commitments and culinary excellence.
